Lots Of Recent Criminal Activity In New Lenox: Police Blotter (4)

NEW LENOX, IL - It's time to look at some of the recent criminal activity in village. The following information was provided by the New Lenox Police Department.

SEPT. 24

An officer was dispatched to the 900 block of Illinois Highway in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle which was parked in their driveway overnight. The interior of the vehicle was rummaged through but nothing appeared missing at the time of the report.

Police were dispatched to the Super Wash on North Vine Street in reference to a criminal damage to property. The complainant advised that someone damaged a coin box and a credit meter at the car wash.

SEPT. 25

Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Timber Place in reference to a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle which was parked in their complex parking lot overnight. The offender(s) stole a wallet containing cash, various IDs, and credit cards.

SEPT. 26

  • The officer was dispatched to Silver Cross Hospital in reference to an Identity Theft complaint. The complainant advised that someone fraudulently used their personal information to receive treatment and services at the hospital.
  • The officer was dispatched to the 800 block of O’Connell Street in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that they mistakenly left their garage door open overnight. They later learned that someone entered the open garage and stole several items including a laptop computer.

SEPT. 27

  • The officers were dispatched to a burglar alarm at Wendy’s. Upon arrival, officers located the offender, Devin Edwards, 20, of South Chicago Heights, inside the restaurant. Edwards had forced entry through a drive-thru window and was attempting to steal money. Edwards was transported to the NLPD and charged with two felonies. Edwards was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
  • The officer was dispatched to Network Global Logistics in the 2100 block of West Haven Avenue in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that someone stole an empty semi-trailer from the property in the early morning hours.

SEPT. 28

  • The complainant advised that they received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the DEA. The caller advised the victim that their name had come up during an out of state investigation and requested the complainant’s personal information. The complainant provided some personal information before realizing that the call was a scam.
  • The officer was dispatched to AT&T in reference to a theft. The complainant advised that an Apple IPhone was stolen from a display counter.
  • The officer was dispatched to Lincoln Highway & Gougar Road in reference to a fight between two males in the street. The officer arrived and made contact with both people. The officer learned the two were fighting over a traffic incident that began at Route 30 & Briggs. Neither party wished to pursue battery complaints. During the investigation, the officer learned that one of the drivers, Barry Burd, 48, of the 200 block of South Hammes Avenue in Joliet, was under the influence of alcohol. Burd was arrested and transported to the NLPD. Burd posted bond and was released.
  • The officer was dispatched to Aurelio’s Pizza in reference to a Deceptive Practice complaint. The complainant advised that a customer paid for pizza using a fraudulent $100 bill. Meanwhile, the officer was investigating a counterfeit $100 bill at Aurelio’s Pizza and made contact with employees at El Burrito Loco. The officer learned that a customer paid for food there as well using a fraudulent $100.
  • The officer was dispatched to Joliet Highway and Cedar Road in reference to a traffic crash. During the investigation, the officer learned that both drivers of the two cars, Pamela Arnold, 56, of Manhattan, and Richard Bostrom, 60, of Homewood, were under the influence of alcohol. Arnold and Bostrom were transported to the NLPD. Arnold and Bostrom posted bond and were released.

SEPT. 30

The officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Peregrine Drive for a burglary. The complainant advised that someone entered two of their unlocked vehicles overnight. Taken were an IPhone and loose change. Additionally, in the same 700 block of Peregrine Drive, police were called in reference to a stolen motor vehicle. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle, while it was parked in the driveway overnight with the key fob in it, and stole the vehicle.
