Crime On Rise In New Lenox: Police Blotter (2024)

One crime involved a residential burglary. Another occurred at the 7-Eleven.

Here's a look at some of the crimes that were reported to police.

MAY 29

Police were dispatched to Feil Water Treatment in the 1100 block of Haven Avenue for a theft complaint. "Approximately 16 wooden pallets were stolen from their property," police reports show.

MAY 30

Police were sent to a house on Jackson Branch Drive for a deceptive practice report. "The complainant advised they received a phone call from someone claiming to be their granddaughter. The caller convinced the complainant that they were in an accident and needed money to pay for bond. The complainant was advised to purchase $3,000 worth of Google Play Cards and provide the codes from the cards to make payment for the granddaughter’s bond. The complainant made the purchase, and provided the caller with the codes. The complainant later made contact with their granddaughter and learned that she was fine and had not been involved in an accident and that this had been a scam."

MAY 31

Police went to the 100 block of North Cedar Road to take a residential burglary report. "Someone forced entry through a door to their home while they were at work and stole cash."

Police went to the Aldi store at 351 E. Lincoln Highway for a fraud incident. "The complainant advised that someone obtained their credit card information and made a fraudulent purchase at the store using their credit card information."

Police were sent to the Walona Softball Fields for a criminal damage to property. "Garbage cans were knocked over and a roll-up door to the concession stand was damaged," reports indicate.

Unrelated, on May 31, police were sent to the Walmart, 501 E. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox, for a retail theft. Elicia Z. Scott, 40, and Ayanna Scott, 19, both of the same house, 500 block of Joliet's Cayuga Street, "were observed changing price tags on items. Lesser priced stickers were placed on higher priced items by both Scotts. They then paid the lesser price for the items. Ayanna Scott had previously been banned from Walmart property for previous retail theft and was additionally charged with trespassing," police reports show. Elicia Scott was charged with retail theft. Elicia Scott and Ayanna Scott posted bond and were released.

JUNE 1

Police went to the 600 block of Lilas Court for a car burglary. Someone "entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway and stole items including cash, personal identification and a phone a charger."

Police went to the 1500 block of Eagle Vista Road for a fraud case. "The complainant advised that someone obtained their credit card information and made fraudulent purchases using their credit card information."

JUNE 2

Police went to the 200 block of South Prairie Road for a fraud report. "The complainant learned that someone had obtained their account information and made fraudulent online purchases."

Unrelated, also that date officers were sent to the 7-Eleven for a retail theft. "The officer was dispatched to 7 Eleven in reference to a Retail Theft report. The complainant advised subjects walked behind the counter and stole multiple packs of Swisher Sweet Cigars and fled from the store."
